Hopscotch Blends Tradition and Innovation with Grand Selection of Craft Beer and Whiskey
Hopscotch, Orange County’s soon-to-be premiere destination for craft beer, artisan whiskey, and handcrafted cocktails, is set to open early November 2012 following a week of private parties and charity events.
Located in historic downtown Fullerton, Hopscotch will stock the widest assembly of specialty whiskey in Orange County with over 100 varieties from single malt Scotch to small-batch and single barrel Bourbons. Catering to a variety of palates, whiskies from around the world including the U.S., Ireland, Scotland, and Japan will fill the entire space of the bar. Guests will enjoy a selection comprised of small production distillers the likes of Copper Fox, Four Roses, Corsair, Balcones, and other award-winning distilleries. In addition to monthly tastings from featured brands, Hopscotch will offer regular whiskey pairing dinners.
Beer aficionados will enjoy as many as 75 specialty draught and bottled craft beers, including the most highly sought-after cask-aged, smoked, fruit, bitter, seasonal, and other limited, small-batch varieties.
In addition to rotating handles from breweries far and wide, Hopscotch will feature local favorites including Bootlegger’s, The Bruery, and Noble Ale Works, among others. In addition to beer flites, all beers will be offered in the appropriate style glassware, ensuring optimum flavor profiles.
A re-introduction to classic cocktails, Hopscotch will put a fresh twist on flavorful sazeracs, refreshing mint juleps, and tongue-pleasing old-fashions, serving handcrafted cocktails using fresh fruits, house-made syrups, flavor-packed herbs, bitters, and premium spirits. A small menu of eclectic boutique wines will round out the beverage selection.
“We’re excited to get the doors open and allow beer and whiskey aficionados a place they can call their own,” said Hopscotch co-owner Bryan Gonzales. “Between the food, drink and ambience, you won’t find a similar experience anywhere in the county.”
Scheduled to open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, the scratch-made menu, with an emphasis on slow-cooked foods, is designed to pair with your beverage of choice. Guests can expect sandwiches and entrées of beer-braised meats, pulled pork’s, and brined and slow-roasted chicken, each offered with house-made sauces. In addition to burgers, sliders, and locally-sourced sausage, the menu will include seasonal salads, and dishes such as beer mac n’ cheese, pork n’ beans, and house-cut steak fries, among other small bites. All items will be made entirely from scratch using farm fresh, locally-sourced produce and ingredients whenever possible.
Housed within Fullerton’s original Pacific Railway Station, a registered California Landmark (circa 1918), Hopscotch will feature all the warmth and charm befitting an historic tavern, complete with vaulted and exposed wood trusses, and rustic wood-form cement walls . At the centerpiece will be a large wrap-around bar topped with reclaimed oak whiskey barrel staves. In addition to bar and communal seating, a lower level dining room area will provide leather upholstered booths and pub-height tables and banquettes for groups of all sizes. In addition to a main spacious patio, cigar enthusiasts will be able to enjoy a fine cigar and a dram of whiskey at a second patio reserved exclusively for cigar smokers. All areas will feature a number of flat panel screens, which will air sports, as well as vintage black and white westerns.
Hopscotch is located at 136 E. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton, CA 92832. Opening hours of operation are 11am-2am Monday through Friday and 9am-2am Saturday and Sunday.
