Building on their popular breakfast/lunch offerings, Early Bird opens its doors for dinner service with an innovative spin on modern diner food. The restaurant that brought its award-wining breakfast and lunch to North Orange County last summer is thrilled to announce the addition of its dinner service starting June 4, 2013, from 5:30 to close Tuesdays through Saturdays, in addition to its normal breakfast/lunch/brunch service hours.

“We wanted to get firmly established in our neighborhood before we offered a dinner service,” says co-owner Tank Menzies. “It’s been nearly a year, and we have built our street cred as the place to go for fresh, delicious, and creative breakfast, lunch, and brunch—and what we consider to be the best coffee in Orange County. With Chef DeLoach at the helm, bringing a modern take on traditional diner comfort food, we know the menu will always be innovative, seasonal, and mouth-watering, but at the same time approachable and never pretentious.”

Menu highlights include Dr. Pepper Glazed Spareribs; Trout with Lime Butter, Charred Corn, and Pickled Carrots; and Fried Pig Ear with Black Garlic Salsa and Chimichurri. Early Bird will also offer fresh Singaporean Chili Dungeness Crab upon request. For dessert, guests can choose from Chef DeLoach’s popular Lemon Curd with Sugar Cookies and Blueberry Compote, Street Melon with Lime Ice and Beer Emulsion, or one of his House Soda Floats.

Chef DeLoach will also be offering seasonal specials that will vary weekly. Local craft beer and wine will also be available, along with Early Bird’s legendary single-origin coffee.

“We’ve envisioned this menu to be a dinner that is approachable yet fun. With a combination of small and large plates, our friends and neighbors can craft the dining experience they want, rather than be confined by a traditional stuffy menu,” says Chef DeLoach. “People underestimate North Orange County palates, and we can’t wait to give our guests what they crave. They are going to love Early Bird dinner, and we can’t wait to begin innovating.”

Voted Best New Restaurant in 2013 by OC Weekly, Early Bird was founded by lawyer and entrepreneur Tank Menzies and entrepreneur Marcelo Caraveo. Steve Sims of Bodhi Leaf Coffee is now co-owner and he hand-selects each microlot to ensure the best coffee is served at Early Bird. Together, the three strive to bring creative, fresh, and delicious food to North Orange County.

The kitchen is run by Executive Chef Frank DeLoach, who grew up in Dana Point, California, and spent a lot of time around the family dinner table where he developed his passion for cooking. Since then, Frank has worked in some of the best Los Angeles and Orange County kitchens, including Pinot Provence, Pizzeria Ortica, Mezze and most recently as sous chef at Playground DTSA.
