Skin and haircare company Aveda have the feel good philosophy deep rooted in their beauty DNA. But this year they are upping their game with a 24-hour global Cut-A-Thon.

On April 22 (Earth Day) a whole lot of hair will be hitting the floor at many Aveda Salons and Institutes during the brand’s 24-hour global hair cutting marathon. Scissors will be snipping at record speeds as Lux Aveda Salon/Spa stylists here in Fullerton join those from around the world who will also be volunteering their haircutting expertise.

Looking to help bust a beauty world record? The professional stylists at Lux Aveda are hoping to raise $5 million globally, and set the Guinness World Record at the same time for the most money raised for a charity by haircuts in a 24-hour period. All proceeds raised locally benefit the Surfrider Foundation — a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the worlds oceans, waves and beaches.

Since the inception of the Earth Month program in 1999, Aveda professionals in more than 30 countries have collectively raised more than $26 million to help support organizations that directly effect environmental change. More than $20 million of this amount has been designated for clean water-related causes since 2007.

Whether you’re going for a short shag, sleek bob or long and luscious layers, letting a Lux Aveda stylist make the cut on Earth Day will do a world of good for all concerned. Make a modest suggested donation, get a master haircut.

The event is on a first come, first serve basis and the services offered are:

  • Haircuts $20
  • Hair Therapy Treatments $15
  • Chair Massage $1 per minute
  • Mini Facials $15
