The Cellar to Host Pre-Prohibition Cocktail Launch Party

Before “handcrafted cocktails” became a buzz phrase echoed through the Dionysian halls of North Orange County, The Cellar had long been introducing pre-prohibition potations to a select group of those in the know. After all, the French restaurant has always had a reputation for forward sophistication and discreet pomp.

Now that more and more folk have developed an appreciation for the art of mixology, The Cellar’s speakeasy style Spirit Room is ready to accommodate all those who wish to imbibe elegantly. In celebration of their new signature list of classically crafted cocktails, a launch party is being held this Wednesday, September 11, from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm in the tony lounge. Created by Fullerton’s own Tommy Newcomb and Rich Ohtsuka — hailing from Mastro’s and Seven Grand — the menu includes 12 classic cocktails with origins dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, such as Mint Julep, Orange County Pride, and the Vieux Carré.

Guests will enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and their first featured cocktail at the rollback price of only 30 cents. In even grander form, a drawing will also be held for a chance to win a seat at one of The Cellar’s superb winemaker dinners. Since this event is open to the public, there will be limited capacity and those who plan to attend are encouraged to arrive early.

The Cellar is located in the heart of historic downtown Fullerton at 305 N. Harbor Blvd. Fullerton, CA 92832. Open for dinner service Tuesday through Sunday from 5:30pm with cocktail service until 2am. Wine Wednesdays feature half off pricing with every bottle. Reservations and private bookings at 714.525.5682. For more information, visit
